Lindenwood takes its name from Linden Towers, the mansion that silver-rush millionaire James C. Flood built on a 600-acre tract here. The house was demolished in 1934, and the Flood estate was subdivided in stages beginning in 1938 into today's neighborhood, whose original gates still mark its entrance.
