San Carlos is where our office is, at 1641 Laurel Street, and it's genuinely home for me. I was born and raised here, so my read on this market comes from actually living in it, not just working it.

What San Carlos is like

Strong public schools, a walkable small downtown along Laurel Street, and a genuinely family-oriented feel have earned San Carlos its "City of Good Living" reputation, and it's earned. It tends to attract families planning to stay put for a decade or more, which keeps turnover lower and demand steady even when other markets soften.

Who tends to move here

Families prioritizing schools and community, and buyers who want small-town walkability without giving up quick access to 101 and Caltrain. Being close to downtown or up in the hills changes the price and the feel more than people expect, and it's worth walking both before deciding.

Nearby areas

San Carlos sits between Belmont and Redwood City, including Redwood City's Emerald Hills neighborhood, a genuine hidden gem worth a look if you want more space and don't need to be in the flats.
