The city's historic core around Top of the Hill, and its busiest market.
Living in Original Daly City
Original Daly City is the city's historic core around the Top of the Hill on Mission Street, where the city began. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, dairy rancher John Daly opened his land to refugees, and the city that grew up here was named for him when it incorporated in 1911. Homes range from early-1900s cottages to mid-century houses, plus a number of condos. It's Daly City's busiest market and one of its more affordable, with 92 single-family sales and a median around $1.07M over the last 12 months.
Parking & walkability: Lots are smaller and many older homes have a single-car garage, so street parking is busy on many blocks. In return, it's one of Daly City's most walkable areas: Mission Street's shops and restaurants are close by, the Daly City BART station is a short walk or bus ride away, and San Francisco is right across the border.
