Wave Crest is one of the Coastside's oldest subdivisions, registered on December 18, 1905, one of the “paper cities” laid out when the Ocean Shore Railroad was expected to bring San Franciscans down the coast. The trains never delivered the crowds, and the lots filled in slowly over the following century, so today it's single-family homes from many eras, on the south side of town toward the Wavecrest bluffs, where 206 acres of open space were bought for preservation in 2008. About 10 to 15 homes sell each year; the 2025 median was around $1.45M, and homes sold in a median of 20 days at about 100% of asking.
Parking & walkability: Most homes have a driveway and a garage, and the residential streets are generally easy to park on. The Coastal Trail and the bluffs are close by, and downtown's Main Street is a short drive or bike ride. Highway 1 and 92 are a few minutes away.
