Central Woodside Woodside, CA
The heart of Woodside around the Town Center, with estates and large rural lots.
Living in Central Woodside
Central Woodside covers the heart of one of the Peninsula's oldest communities. Woodside was a redwood logging town by the 1850s, with at least eight sawmills running by 1855; Charles Brown's 1839 adobe on his Mountain Home Ranch still stands, and the Woodside Store, built in 1854 among the sawmills, is now a county historic site. After the mills came farms and vineyards, then country estates for wealthy San Franciscans from the 1880s on, and residents voted in 1956 to incorporate to keep the town rural. Today it's estates and rural homes on large lots, many with room for horses. It's Woodside's busiest market, with 26 sales in the last 12 months at a median around $6.5M, and more negotiable than most of the Peninsula: in 2025, homes took a median of about 7 weeks to sell at around 95% of asking.
Parking & walkability: Homes have long driveways and ample off-street parking, and many roads have no sidewalks. It's a driving (or riding) town, but the Town Center's grocery, restaurants and shops are close by, trails link the area to parks and open space, and Highway 280 is a few minutes away.
