Serra Highlands is on South San Francisco's west side, near Winston Manor and Highway 280, and was mostly built in 1955 and 1956, with homes somewhat larger than in many of the city's other postwar neighborhoods. In 2000 a newer subdivision went up along its northern edge, on the former site of McClellan's “Acres of Orchids” nursery.
