Its main streets carry history: Jenevein Avenue is named for August Jenevein, a French immigrant who arrived in 1874 and ran Uncle Tom's Cabin, the famous 14 Mile House roadhouse at El Camino Real and San Bruno Avenue, while Crystal Springs Road once led to a resort town later flooded by the Crystal Springs Dam.
